Imagine a world where you get to choose what you are born into. You can be born into wealth, choose your own race, choose the cards you will be dealt for the rest of your life. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? But sadly, that is not the case. The cards we are dealt is a factor of fate. It is unfair. Especially to minority groups in America when seeking health care. How do healthcare disparities affect minority groups in America? Minority groups on average die from treatable causes far more than the white population, minority groups are presented less in the medical field, with only six percent of African Americans graduating from medical school in 2014. These groups are given a poor level of care due to stereotypes and biases, which creates an unsafe relationship for these groups with their healthcare provider, and results in far more pain and suffering than there should exist.
